Tokyo Conference Sheds Light on Psychiatric Abuses

Conference at the Church of Scientology of Tokyo focuses on failures in the diagnosis of developmental disorders, warning of potential danger in proposed legislation.

Church of Scientology Tokyo hosted a forum to educate the community on the potential harm from proposed legislation impacting the psychiatric drugging of children. It also covered the failure of psychiatry to adequately define and diagnose so-called disorders.

Among those attending were local legislators, social workers, medical and legal professionals.

The program began with a presentation from a health professional focusing on the increased diagnoses of Japanese children with so-called developmental disorders. He referred to studies of the known and published side effects of psychiatric drugs from pharmaceutical makers, noting that they greatly increase the risk of suicide, already a serious problem among Japanese youth.

He exposed incriminating financial ties between the leading Japanese authority on developmental disorders and pharmaceutical companies.

One of his main points was that psychiatrists frequently diagnose children after no more than a five-minute interview, and that this is completely inadequate for making such a judgment call.

An attorney focused on a serious problem in the legal system where judges rely on psychiatric opinion or testimony for the involuntary hospitalization and temporary custody of children, despite no official standard of judgment or protocol for such opinions.

Special guest speaker was Mr. Steve Green, Executive Director of Citizens Commission on Human Rights New Zealand and 2015 International Association of Scientologists Freedom Medal winner.

Mr. Green spoke of psychiatry’s criminal failure to provide any standard for the diagnosis of ADHD, opening the door to the prescription of dangerous psychiatric drugs to children.

The director of the Nagano chapter of CCHR Japan then presented specific steps a parent can take to protect their children from psychiatric abuses.

Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) is a nonprofit charitable mental health watchdog co-founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and professor of psychiatry emeritus, the late Dr. Thomas Szasz.  It is dedicated to eradicating psychiatric abuses and ensuring patient protection.
