Family Fun Day Down Under—Barbeque at Church of Scientology

Enjoying the Fun Day BBQ at the Church of Scientology in Chatswood, Sydney, Australia

The Church of Scientology opens the grounds of its new Church in Chatswood—the first monthly event for the local community.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Sydney, Australia, the Church of Scientology hosted a “Fun Day Barbecue” at its new Church in Chatswood.

There was plenty of BBQ, and activities for the kids included pony rides, jumping castles, face painting and a miniature farmyard stocked with animals to pet. And youngsters all went home with a gift bag.

It was held on the grounds of the new Church of Scientology Advanced Organization for Australasia that celebrated its grand opening September 4, attended by dignitaries and thousands of parishioners from across Australia, New Zealand, Oceania, Japan and Taiwan.

According to Sei Kato of the Scientology Public Affairs Department, the Church plans to make this a monthly open afternoon for families in the community.

“We organized this event for our neighbors,” said Kato. “This beautiful property has been a cherished part of the community for many years. When it was a government facility, it was open for public use on designated days, and the Church is continuing that tradition.”

Family Fun Day is organized by members of the Church of Scientology as a service to the local community. Admission is free.
