Drug-Free Soccer Tournament: Scoring Goals for a Healthy Life

Young athletes who competed in the Drug-Free World tournament in Brescia, Italy, signed a pledge to live drug-free.

Bringing the truth about drugs to the youth of the Northern Italy town of Brescia.

Drug-free living was the theme in the Northern Italy city of Brescia, when four teams of 30 youths competed for first place in the Drug-Free World Tournament, held in honor of the United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The tournament was organized by the Social Reform Office of the Church of Scientology of Brescia in coordination with the GS EPAS Soccer Team.

The fierce four-hour competition for the trophy ended with an awards ceremony and was followed with a drug prevention workshop presented by volunteers of the Brescia chapter of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World.

After the program, the coaches approached the Foundation to arrange workshops for other local youth, and arrangements are underway to set these up.

One of the referees is particularly interested in spreading the truth about drugs to club goers and wants to work with the Foundation volunteers to reach them through drug prevention events at a popular local discotheque.

Scientologists on six continents work in their communities throughout the year to empower others with the truth about drugs.  The Church and its members are dedicated to eradicating drug abuse through education.

The Church of Scientology supports Foundation for a Drug-Free World, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns.
