Scientology Church expands its drug education efforts to reach California youth with the truth about drugs.
Sacramento, CA, May 9, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Sacramento Scientologists are stepping up their drug education and prevention activities throughout the region. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, for every dollar spent on prevention, at least $10 can be saved in future health, social and crime costs. And to make drug prevention available to everyone, the Church of Scientology provides The Truth About Drugs educational materials available free of charge to parents, mentors, educators, religious leaders and law enforcement to reach young people with the truth about drugs.
Over the past month, Sacramento Scientologists have set up drug prevention booths to reach youth with their drug-free message, including:
"The Church is committed to improving our society. If we address the underlying drug issue with proper education and advocacy, we can set our sights on creating that safer society we all desire."

· The Cesar Chavez Youth and Leadership Conference at UC Davis
· Kids Day in the Park in Rancho Cordova
· A community open house for World Health Day at the Church
At their booths, hundreds of young people pledged to live drug-free lives and reach out to friends and families to help them make the same commitment.
In looking into drug abuse and its social implications, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “Recent research has demonstrated that the single most destructive element in these societies today is drugs.”
The Church and its members support the Foundation for a Drug-Free World to make accurate information about drugs available to anyone wishing to help tackle this urgent issue.
The largest nongovernmental drug education program in the world, the Foundation’s program includes a series of 14 The Truth About Drugs educational booklets, the popular “They Said They Lied” public service announcements, and the award-winning The Truth About Drugs—Real People, Real Stories documentary. The Foundation’s program also includes lesson plans, posters and every element needed for an educator, drug prevention counselor, school resource officer, parent or mentor to help youth make self-determined decisions to live drug-free.
“The Church is committed to improving our society,” says Church of Scientology Sacramento President Mike Klagenberg. “If we address the underlying drug issue with proper education and advocacy, we can set our sights on creating that safer society we all desire.”
